Kirkwood School District to Hold Dedication Ceremony of New Science Classrooms at North Kirkwood Middle School
February 01, 2012
Construction is complete! The Kirkwood School District board of education is hosting a dedication ceremony at North Kirkwood Middle School on Monday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. The board will be formally dedicating the new science classrooms.
The North Kirkwood Middle School science teachers and students are enjoying their new space in the state of the art science classrooms. During Mrs. Ruth Baldwin’s eighth grade science class, she shows the effects of water pollution with a watershed demonstration. While Baldwin has used this demonstration in the past, she said the new science rooms allowed for a much richer experience for the students. “You can accomplish more in a class period because of the space. The space easily integrates the middle school model of teaching where the class segments are broken up which allows the students to be more focused, enabling them to experience more. The space also allows for easier clean up which makes class activity transition time more efficient,” said Baldwin.

Members of the St. Louis Fire Department filed a lawsuit today (Tuesday, Jan. 24) against four area school districts over their failure to allow students in unaccredited school districts to transfer to better schools without paying tuition. To read the entire article, click HERE.
The public statement by the Kirkwood School District is as follows: The Kirkwood School District is waiting for guidance from the courts regarding non-resident students seeking transfer from unaccredited schools. We understand that this involves complex legal issues that we hope are resolved in the court system so that KSD can proceed appropriately.
