KHS Cares
Where am I?
The goal of KHS Cares is to help the staff provide for "needy " students. The staff includes administrators, guidance counselors and study focus teachers. Concerns from the staff are forwarded to myself or Tom Gaither-Ganim.
One of the ways KHS Cares provides are through school supplies, for about 100 students. The entire staff knows that they can request supplies for any student. This includes backpack and all basic school supplies. This also includes supplies for extra projects. like clay for Ceramics class or material for Fashion Design class. Supplies are stored in Romona Millers' office at the south end of campus and in Cindy Ricks room at the north end of campus.
Another way KHS provides is through student learning incentives for Study Focus students. There are ten Study Focus classes which help about 150 of our "at risk" students (students who struggle academically). Food or treats has worked well as motivation with high school students. They have also helped with room supplies for Study Focus classes.
Also KHS provides fees for Act tests and AP test based on Counselors recommendation.
Finally, KHS cares provides clothing donations for the district l and has been generous with additional need as they are brought to our attention, like glasses for a student, or spending money for a school trip.
KHS Cares has helped in so many ways, providing for so many students in a variety of ways.
