KHS Science Speaker Series features Shelley Minteer, Ph.D., on Thursday, May 7

Kirkwood High School will host the third and final program of its Science Speaker Series on Thursday, May 7, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the school’s Keating Performance Center, 801 W. Essex Ave. The KHS Science Speaker Series is offered free of charge to students, parents and community members.
The featured scientist is Shelley Minteer, Ph.D., is a professor of chemistry and biomedical engineering at Saint Louis University. She is the inventor of a biology-based battery that is near commercialization through a company she co-founded (Akermin, Inc.) The presentation will feature Dr. Minteer’s experiences in the biological sciences, educational paths, career paths from both an academic and an entrepreneurial perspective, and salary expectations.
The Kirkwood School District Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, sponsors the KHS Science Speaker Series as part of its mission to support academic programs and special projects in the Kirkwood School District.
