KHS Publications and Students are Award Winners at Spring Journalism Conference

The Kirkwood Call newspaper and Pioneer yearbook were recognized and 25 Kirkwood High School journalism students won awards at the Sponsors of Student Publications (SSP) Spring Conference at Webster University, March 8. Students on Call and Pioneer staffs competed against more than 550 students from 33 Missouri high schools and won the awards listed below.

Bruce Schneider Memorial Scholarship
In addition to the numerous staff and individual awards, Peter Krusing, a member of The Kirkwood Call staff, received the Bruce Schneider Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 award presented annually at the SSP spring conference. The award honors Bruce Schneider, a long-time St. Louis scholastic journalism adviser who died in 2004. Schneider taught journalism at Mehlville and Parkway South high schools and was a past president of SSP.
