Where am I?

Scholarships

While the individual schools to which you are applying will often offer various forms of merit-based aid, or scholarships, many outside organizations offer money as well. The College Counseling department maintains a list of these outside scholarships and publishes these lists via the scrolling announcements and reminders posted throughout the guidance hallway.

Below we have provided a comprehensive list of scholarships available throughout the year. However, you can view the most updated month-by-month listing of this year's scholarship opportunities here:

KHS Financial Aid Night

Kirkwood High School will be hosting a Financial Aid night in the cafeteria on Monday February 13th, 2012. Susan Deppe from Millikin University will be presenting and speaking about completing the FAFSA and answering questions pertaining to the award process. The program will run for approximately 45 minutes and will begin at 6:30 pm. Juniors and Senior students and parents are encouraged to attend. Please contact your college counselor with any questions.

FAFSA Frenzy Workshops in the St. Louis area:

The Missouri FAFSA Frenzy event for 2012 has been scheduled for Sunday, Feruary 12, and an inclement weather back-up date will be Sunday, February 19, 2012. However, there are some sites that have chosen different times and dates, refer to the "FAFSA Frenzy" website below for the most up-to-date list of days and times for these events. FAFSA Frenzy workshops will assist all students and families in submitting their 2012-2013 FAFSA, helping them achieve their educational dreams.

What is FAFSA Frenzy?

FAFSA Frenzy, a program of College Goal SundaySM, is offered in Missouri through partnerships between the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) with the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel (MASFAP), the Lumina Foundation for Education, and the YMCA to assist students and families in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The College Goal SundaySM program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association (ISFAA) with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc.,and with supplemental support from the Lumina Foundation for Education.

The FAFSA is the primary application used by federal, state, and institutional financial assistance entities in determining an individual's eligibility for grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.

What to bring:

  • Social Security Cards for both student and parent(s)
  • 2011 W-2 forms for both student and parent(s)
  • Copies of  your 2011 tax forms for both student and parent(s), if they are ready
  • Student PIN and Parent PIN. You may apply for your PINs at www.pin.ed.gov before attending a FAFSA Frenzy event

What do I bring if I haven't done my taxes yet?

  • SS cards for student and parent(s)
  • Last year-end pay stub received in December 2011 by you and your parents, showing year-to-date earnings
  • 2010 tax forms for both student and parent(s)
  • 2011 statements of interest earned

By attending you will receive:

  • Free professional assistance completing the 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Information regarding federal student aid programs and Missouri state aid programs

Saint Lous University 2012 Financial Aid 101 and FAFSA Completion Workshops

Are you wondering what scholarship and financial aid programs are available to you, curious if you will be eligible or satisfy the awarding criteria and have questions about how and when to apply for scholarship and financial aid programs? The financial aid experts at Saint Louis University are here to help! To provide answers to these questions they are hosting free, on-campus Financial Aid 101 and FAFSA Completion workshops in January and February. Each workshop will explain the scholarship and financial aid process and help you to complete your 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) question by question.

No reservation is required. Participants should bring a copy of both the parents' and student's 2011 federal tax returns. If your 2011 federal tax returns have not yet been filed, please bring a copy of your 2010 results.
