Welcome to the Junior college counseling page! This is the place to find all the information to help you prepare for the college search, application and selection process. If you are seeking a document or a website that is not listed on this page, please contact your grade level or college counselor. Each college counselor's information is listed on the "College Counseling" page. Junior year college planning guide:
While the college counselors don't start meeing with each junior until the 2nd semseter of each calendar year, its not to early to start planing for college! Posted below is a list of suggested activities that each junior can be doing throughout the year to help prepare them for college. Click on the link below to access the suggested plan of action.

Each college counselor is now taking appointments for the class of 2013, please feel free to contact them via e-mail or by phone. They will be at the fall parent coffee nights (Juniors 1/23/2012) and will be having after school sessions starting in February until 6:00 pm on Tuesdays (Emily Berty) and Wednesdays (Abby Peterson). Family and individual appointments can be scheduled then or at any time during the school day. To request your transcripts please access your Naviance Family Connection account, if you have forgotten your password or user ID please contact your college counselor.

It is recommended that Juniors take advantage of any and all college visits. Several representatives are visiting KHS this semseter to inform current high schools students of the opportunities that are available to them at their specific university. It is strongly encouraged that if you are interested in learning more about a potential university that you may be applying to as a senior that you sign up to see and meet with those particular schools. Parents are welcome to come and each visit takes place in the Guidance Activity Center. The most up-to-date list of Universities and colleges that will be visiting KHS is listed below. *For a most up-to-date list please access the college visit list on the Naviance Family Connection Website.
Spring 2012 Schedule of College Visits (doc, 34KB)
To sign up for a college visit every student must:
1. Have their KHS student ID with them
2. Sign up 1 day before each scheduled visit
3. Sign up with Mrs. Stumpf (ext. 1083) in the Guidance Activity Center OR log into your Naviance Family Account and 1. click on colleges 2. View all upcoming college visits and select the visit you would like to attend.
Open Houses
Colleges and Universities will be having open houses throughout this semester to help inofrm students and parents about the academic and social opportunites that are available for students on their individual campuses. When visiting a college campus it is important to ask the right questions. Below, is a comprehensive list of quesitons that could be asked when going to visit a campus.

The college planning and scholarship guide is a coveted book that is given out every year to the Senior Class. Below is an electronic copy of what each senior recieved this year. Feel free to open it up or to print a copy out for yourself to see how senior year works and what is expected in terms of the college application process. Use the "table to contents" to navigate your way through the guide. If you have questions, feel free to contact your grade level or college counselor.

Juniors will have access to the career and ACT prep components of the Naviance Family Connection. College access will be granted in the winter of their Junior year after they meet with their college counselor in small groups. Naviance family connection is a website that that aids each student in terms of four year planning, career prepareation and assessment and college planning and tracking. On this website students can also access ACT prep opporutnities. Each student has their own unique user name and password. If you or your student has forgotten their log on information or if you as a parent would like to access to your students' account, please contact your grade level counselor or college counselor to obtain access or log on information.
