These improvements will expand the use of the outdoor facilities for students, neighbors and the community.  Athletes, band members, physical fitness classes, neighborhood joggers and spectators will all enjoy the new Pioneer Athletic Complex.

Kirkwood's Winning Team - Academics & Athletics

The Kirkwood School District Foundation (KSDF) recently launched “Kirkwood’s Winning Team: Academics & Athletics” and committed to raising $1 million for the improvements, which include installation of a synthetic surface on Lyons Field, replacement of the eight-lane track, and ADA compliance updates. The athletic initiative complements the successful academic campaign conducted by the Kirkwood School District Foundation in 2007 to raise $1.3 million in private funds for the Earl and Myrtle Walker Science Center at Kirkwood High School.

The Kirkwood School District Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides funding for educational programs and major projects that cannot be met through traditional funding sources. The Foundation board is governed by a 20+ member board of directors and has a teacher and board of education representative.
