KHS LIBRARY SERVICES

The Donald W. Duchek Library is open from 7:15 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday when school is in session; exceptions will be posted.  The DDL is staffed by librarians Kim Heyl and Laurie Seibel and an assistant, Julie Healey.  Seating for 171 people is provided.  A copier and scanner is available for students; multiple copies are 10 cents per side.  The library is divided into three areas for student use:  Classroom Areas, Computer Area and Quiet Study.  The collection consists of over 20,000 books, magazines, newspapers, and indexes.  Materials may be checked out for two weeks and renewed if necessary.  Newspaper and magazine articles are also available online.  Computer use is available with teacher supervision.  Students are encouraged to save word processing and other projects to their home folders so that they may continue working on them on any computers in the school.  Students may access the following databases from home:  AccessScience, CQ Researcher, Issues & Controversies, Issues & Controversies in American History, JSTOR, JSTOR Aluka Collection, MOREnet Online Resources, NewsBank, The New York Times Archives, and World Book.

For home access, students must have usernames/passwords for databases; contact librarians for this information.
