Differentiated instruction is a proactively planned, interdependent system for meeting student learning needs. Quality differentiation is marked by (1) a positive community of learners, (2) focused, high-quality curriculum, (3) ongoing assessment, (4) flexible instructional arrangement, and (5) respectful tasks.
