School Closings, Delayed Openings, Early Dismissals
Circumstances which affect our schedule, inclement weather or building conditions, will be announced on the following local radio and television stations:
- KMOX Radio 1120
- KTVI Channel 2 (FOX)
- KMOV Channel 4 (CBS)
- KSDK Channel 5 (NBC)
You may receive a phone call form the district through SchoolReach, our telephone broadcast system. Please be sure to provide current home, work, and cell phone numbers; weather or emergency-related SchoolReach calls will automatically be placed to all listed phone numbers in our parent contact lists.
You may also access school closing information via the Kirkwood R-7 website (www.kirkwoodschools.org), by calling Keysor (213-6120), or by calling the KTRS-AM 550 Radio Automated Snow Closing Service (call 550-5877 or 453-5555, then listen for a voice prompt and enter ID number 1048). If there are no announcements regarding the Kirkwood School District, school will operate using the regular schedule.
SNOW DAY announcements – all schools are closed and buses will not run. SNOW SCHEDULE announcements – all schools will open one hour later than the regular time (Keysor at 9:40). If we are using a snow schedule, buses run one hour later in the morning but follow the normal afternoon schedule. PM Kindergarten begins at 12:30 (normal time). There will be no elementary instrumental music program on snow schedule days.
