Where am I?

Project IDEA

What started as a playground Carnegie Hallcommittee in 2007 has grown into much more, as Keysor staff and the Keysor PTO are now fully committed to a new play and learning space on the Keysor Campus.  Project IDEA - Imagination, Discovery, Exploration, and Adventure - will provide an outdoor environment that is inclusive and barrier-free, with a goal of meeting the varied needs, capabilities, and interests of children.  The environment will be eco-friendly when possible, incorporating native plants and rocks into our landscape and sustainable resources for kids to explore.  In addition - and perhaps most importantly, the Project IDEA playspace will be designed to connect with the K-5 curriculum and to build on children's varied strengths and intelligences.

Ideas for our play and learning space have come from Keysor Kids, parents, and teachers.  We've researched not just what kids want on the playground, but what they like to play and how they interact with each other and their environment when they aren't tied to specific equipment.  The design committee continues to meet with landscape architects and expects to roll out our design in the next two months.  Watch for more exciting information soon!

If you'd like to help with Project IDEA, please contact Brandie Martine.  We can always use additional ideas, expertise, and support.  And thanks to Keysor Dad Jeff Herschel for designing our Project IDEA logo!
