Where am I?

School-Wide Work

No Name-Calling Week
- An annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities (http://www.nonamecallingweek.org).

Super Tuesday Election and Candidate Rally - After identifying a set of important election issues, fifth graders researched candidates from both parties. Students explored candidate websites, read text from speeches, and viewed rallies online. Candidate commercials were prepared for viewing on school-wide video announcements. An election rally was held the day before Super Tuesday, when all Keysor Kids got to vote. For additional information: Election Article (pdf, 22.81KB)

Use Another Word - Encouraged all Keysor Kids and adults to use kind words and interrupt others when they hear unkind words being spoken.

"The reason I joined the Civil Rights Team is because I'm mixed, and I think I can change the world by bringing black and white people together." -Keshon, 2007-08 Member of CRT

"It's okay, you can do it, step into my shoes, just try it. Understand that it's you who can change the way you think with help from teachers too. Think how great it would be to lead the world in the right direction. Just think how fun it would be to learn a way that can change your life like it did mine. It just felt right. I noticed what was wrong, but didn't know what to do. Now I know that you can't wait for a change, but you can help make the change. And now we pass the torch of leadership to you..." -Claire, 2007-08 Member of CRT at the Passing the Torch Ceremony
