General Course Description

Health is that quality or state of well being which enables an individual to live most and serve best. Within the context of this definition, health instruction should be a vital and integral part of the total school curriculum and should be designed to help each child to understand him/herself as a physical, mental and social being. It should provide the opportunity for students to develop attitudes and good health habits.

Each person must make decisions about health every day, decisions affecting self, family and community. The concepts, attitudes and knowledge needed for making these decisions intelligently can be acquired best in an educational setting during the impressionable years of youth. Content that will be covered in the 6-8 health curriculum is as follows:

  • Consumer Health
7th Grade Health Curriculum
