Mrs. Lisa Owens

Counselor for 6th Grade and 7West lisa.owens@kirkwoodschools.org

I am very excited to start my 7th year at NKMS!  I am the counselor for 6th grade and 7 West.  I love my role as school counselor.  I work with whole classes, small groups, and individual students on a daily basis.  I think the middle school years are such an exciting time in children's lives.  They are exploring who they are and what they want to become in the future!

Outside of school, I enjoy reading, exercising, and spending time with my family.  My husband, Shawn, is a teacher at Kirkwood High School.  We have one son, Cooper, who will be five in January.  He brings true joy to every day!  I graduated from Truman State in Kirksville with a BA in Psychology.  I also have earned my Elementary Education Certificate and my Masters in School Counseling.  Please feel free to stop by and talk to me anytime!  My door is always open!

Mrs. Michelle Fink

Counselor for 7East, 7Central and 8th Grade michelle.fink@kirkwoodschools.org                          (314) 213-6100  Ext. 7040

I am very proud to be the counselor for 8th Grade, 7Central and 7East this year!  This is my 4th year in this position and my sixth year in the district.  In addition to classroom lessons on social skills and relationship-building, I provide individual and group counseling to students here at North.  I am able to provide families with referrals for community services that might be beneficial.  My focus is on helping students make healthy choices during their middle school years and assist them, during their 8th grade year, in transitioning to their high school experience.  Mrs. Owens and I co-sponsor student activities including NKMS Student Council and Boys Bunch.  Our goal is to get as many students involved in a positive activity at school as possible.

I was raised in Columbia, IL and currently live in Waterloo, IL with my husband and six children.  My husband and I have a 18 year old daughter, four boys ages 8, 6 and 4, 20 months and another daughter 6 months.   We love swimming, boating, reading and bike riding.
I graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and graduated from Wake Forest University with a Master’s of Arts in Education degree in Counseling.  I recently completed School Counseling Certification at Lindenwood University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor.

I am so happy and fortunate to be back beginning my 4th year as the Counseling Center Assistant. I am often the first person students and adults see as they enter the NKMS Counseling Center, and I try and greet each person with a smile.  In my role, I assist all new students make the transition to North giving tours, assisting with schedules and answering student and parent questions.  I also help supervise 7th grade lunch.

My husband and I have 2 children - a NKMS 8th grader and a Keysor 4th grader. We keep busy with the kids' activities - ice hockey, swimming, baseball and dancing and we love to vacation in Gulf Shores, AL.  I hold a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Southeast Missouri State University, and I am a former high school teacher.

I am thrilled to begin my first full year as the Educational Support Counselor (ESC) at NKMS! My position in the district has been made possible through an established partnership between Kirkwood School District and BJC Behavioral Health. As the ESC, my services are geared towards supporting students and their families who experience social, emotional, or behavioral concerns. Additionally, I support students in various ways that will allow them to focus on being a student. I work with students 6th - 8th, individually or within groups. I can also assist families with providing linkage between school and community resources. I am the proud mother of three children and a sweet little puppy.

I live in Ballwin, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Some of my hobbies include roller skating, working out, and reading a good book. I absolutely love working at NKMS!!!
