Kirkwood Guidance Curriculum
Our district Guidance Program encourages a sense of positive self-worth and pride in intellectual, moral, cultural, emotional, and physical achievement and well being. Supplementary programs and responsive services are implemented for students identified as requiring additional competency development in all of the guidance curriculum areas.
The Kirkwood School District Guidance curriculum has been organized to address the following general areas:
- Personal Development
- Interpersonal Development
- Educational Development
- Vocational Development
To achieve these curricular goals we offer individual sessions to any student that requests such as well as group sessions, as needed. Some group topics might include social skills development, anger management, grief counseling or stress/anxiety reduction. We also conduct mediations between students and help staff, parents/guardians and students problem solve, as needed. Additionally, we conduct classroom lessons on a variety of topics including educational planning, goal-setting, sexual harassment and anti-bullying concepts.
