Where am I?
Chapter 7 Investigations
7.1 Writing Expressions and
Equations
To solve real world problems, you need to translate verbal phrases and sentences into variable expressions and equations. Complete the steps below to learn how to easily write exressions and equations and solve problems in your life!
Step #1: Look up the definition for "expression" at Math Dictionary for Kids and record the definition in your own words p.5 of your ch 7 packet.
Step #2: Look up the definition for "equation" at Math Dictionary for Kids and record the definition in your own words p.5 of your ch 7 packet.
Step #3: Practice writing expressions & equations here
Step #4: Test out of 7.1 here
IF YOU DID NOT score 80% of higher, please practice more here.
Step #5: Play some games
Game #1: Writing expressions billionaire
7.2 - Simplifying Expressions
7.6 More Marvelous Maths
7.7 Function Frenzy
If you have mastered 7.5-7.7, then see the Venn Perplexer sheet and be perplexed.
7.6 WRITE AND SOLVE INEQUALITIES
Writing and solving inequalities can help you solve real-life problems such as, you have $3.00 for lunch. You want to buy a sandwich for $1.50, a fruit snack for $.60, and a can of juice for $0.75. Do you have enough money?
The steps below will help you write and solve inequalities for problems like the one above.
Step #1: Learn the lesson on how to solve & graph inequalities
Step #2: Try the exercises.
Step #3: Solve and graph 5 inequalities here.
Step #4: Test out of 7.6.
If you do not earn an 80% or higher, complete some extra practice here.
If you get an 80% or higher, go ahead and complete #'s 5-7
Step #5: For an added challenge, practice writing inequalities here.
Step #6: Now check out this angle review
Step #7: If you have time check out this probability review.
7.7 Functions and Equations
Step #1: Record the definition for function, imput, output, domain, and range in p. 9 of your ch 7 part 2 vocab section
Step #2: Learn the lesson
Step #3: Try the exercises
Step #4: Work with a virtual function machine and guess its rule
Step #5: Test out of 7.7
If you earn an 80& or higher, please complete 7.7 challenge.
If you do not earn an 80%, please complete this game.
7.8 Graphing Functions
A function can be graphed in a coordinate plane by creating an input-output table, forming ordered pairs, and plotting the ordered pairs. A linear function is a function whose graph is a line or part of a line. Not all graphs are lines, nor do all graphs represent functions.
