Where am I?
Summer Camps
Summer Camps for
Orchestra Students
Musical instruction over the summer is an important part of an orchestra student’s education. There are many opportunities for Kirkwood students to advance their education. There are opportunities out of town as well as in the St. Louis area. The following testimonials speak to the value of these programs.
"Chamber music is one of the most
important types of music a serious musician can study. The close
interactions between each member of the group and necessity of all individual
parts puts more pressure on every musician to deeply study and learn their own
part.
This summer, I was able to study quartet music amidst the beautiful
scenery of southern Oregon
for nearly three weeks through the Britt Festival String Quartet Academy.
With each of my visits to this academy, this summer being my second, I return
to St. Louis
with new insight about my instrument, my music and myself.
Thanks to
support from AIM, I was able to study with the Arianna String Quartet and my peers
from around the country.
AIM allows for Kirkwood musicians of all backgrounds and
skills to pursue music without the restrictions of cost, which is a wonderful
gift to our school and community.
The first time I received support from AIM for a music camp was in seventh grade, and their support has allowed me to learn so much since then."
