Kirkwood Symphonic Orchestra to Perform at Carnegie Hall on March 28, 2010

The Kirkwood High School Symphonic Orchestra has been selected to perform at the 2010 Instrumental Music Festival at Carnegie Hall next Spring.  One of just three high school instrumental groups selected nationwide, Kirkwood will perform on March 28.

The festival is scheduled from March 26-29. A team of judges from the Field Studies Center of New York, sponsors of the Instrumental Music Festival  and other educational travel programs, reviewed the KHS orchestra's application form as well as an audition tape before making the final selection.   The Instrumental Music Festival is held annually to provide students with a rich educational experience.

In addition to performing in one of the world's most renowned concert halls, the students will take a tour of New York City, see a Broadway show, tour the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island National Park, and visit the Empire State Building, among other city landmarks.

In the coming weeks, the symphonic orchestra students will embark on a year-long fundraising campaign to generate funds for the unprecedented trip.  If you are interested in supporting the KHS Symphonic Orchestra, a donor card/envelope is enclosed in this program.
