Handwashing is the #1 method of preventing disease

Wash hands with soap and warm water for 15 seconds Be sure to clean under fingernails If soap unavailable, rubbing hands creating good friction on all surfaces will help Wash hands after sneezing, blowing nose or coughing, after using bathroom, after petting animals, before eating and food preparation, when hands are dirty Alcohol sanitizer is effective if hands are not soiled Cough and sneeze into tissue or bend of elbow.  Toss tissues immediately after use.

Keep your hands away from your face.  Cold and flu viruses enter your body through your nose, mouth and eyes

 Your body's immune system is restored during sleep.  Get adequate rest.

Drink plenty of water to flush out your system.

Get fresh air.  Dry, heated air makes the membranes in your nose drier and more susceptible to virus infection.
