Where am I?

When Your Child is Ill

                                     When Your Child is Ill

At KECC we do everything we can to provide a safe & healthy enviroment for your children.  However, children do get sick from time to time.  Please let us know if your child has a contagious disease.  Keep him/her home until symptom free for at least 24 hours.  Children must be well enough to participate in all activities. We do place notices on classroom doors if a child with a contagious illness has been in that room.  Specific guidelines are in the parent handbook.  For quick reference:

Fever 100 degrees or above - remain at home until fever free for 24 hours without Tylenol or Motrin.

Vomiting & diarrhea - If more than 2 loose stools or  1 vomiting spisodes in a 24 hour period, remain at home until 24 hours after the last episode and able to tolerate a normal diet and participate in all activities.

Pinkeye - tears, redness of the white of eye and lining of eye, followed by swelling or discharge or pus.  Remain at home until redness of eye has subsided.

Sore throat - if it hurts to swallow, medical evaluation should determine if treatment is needed before returning to school.
