Where am I?

Important Information

  • In the Honeybee Room we work the 6:30-5:00pm and the 7:30-6:00pm shifts. Melissa is off on Wednesdays, Lisa is off on Fridays, and Laura is off on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Maureen floats as an extra in our room, and is off on Wednesdays. We combine with the Elephants in our room at 5:00pm, Puppy Dogs combine with us at 5:30pm, and all three classrooms remain in our room until we close at 6:00pm.

  • KECC closes at 6:00pm, at 6:01, we will issue a late slip. This policy is stated in the Parent Handbook. At KECC, our official clock to follow is the clock on our classroom phones.

  • Breakfast is served from 8:00-8:15am. If you want your child to have breakfast at school, please have them here by then so they have time to eat.

  • Food Reminder:  The State of Missouri Department of Health (Licensing) regulations prohibit us from serving food brought in from home. This protects the children in our school who have food allergies. This also protects children from consuming food that may have been improperly prepared or stored. It is also very hard for one child to see another child eating food from home when they cannot have that food. If a specific child does have certain food allergies, they will be required to have a doctor's note on file with the School Nurse that allows that particular child to have their own specific safe food. As our KECC Parent Handbook states: Please do not allow your child to bring breakfast food to school. If your child is eating something on the way to school, please stay outside of the classroom until your child has eaten the item, then walk your child to his/her room.

  • For safety reasons, please send your child to school in tennis shoes everyday.  Sandals are ok as long as they have a sturdy rubber soles and straps on to their feet. Please do not let your child wear Crocs to school. This is extremely important on Mondays and Wednesdays since we have Motor Group on these days and we are very active in the Gym.

  • Please apply sunscreen to your child in the morning, and we will reapply it throughout the day as needed.

  • If we are not in the classroom, please check the sign on the door to find out where we are.

  • If the Honeybees are outside on our playground, and you come to pick your child up, for security reasons, you may not use the outside door in our classroom to gain access to the playground. You must follow the hallway, past the Duck room to the double blue doors. Once you exit the blue doors, follow the sidewalk to the left and enter our playground through the green gate. To open the gate, please push down the tall handle, and push the gate open at the same time. Please be safe and make sure the gate latches closed. To get back into the building, you must go back through the double blue doors. Your Parent ID badge will open the doors. (Depending on the weather, in the afternoons, we typically go outside between 4:30 and 4:45, and remain on the playground until 5:45pm).

  • When we plan special days in the Honeybee Room (ex. Pajama Day), we plan two days for it. For example, we could plan a Pajama Day for a Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and either the next day or the next week, we will plan a Pajama Day for a Tuesday/Thursday. This way all part-time children will be involved in the special days.

  • We use community wipes in our room. This means that each child brings in a package of wipes and we share it with the entire class. We use wipes for pottiers, diaper changes, and cleaning of hands and faces when we have fun getting messy. We will send notes home when we are running low on wipes. If your child requires his/her own wipes for allergic reasons, we will keep them separate.

  • Please remember to do your Honeybee Family poster with your child. You can include pictures of their favorite things, family members, friends, pets, and anything else special to them. This is a fun activity to do together! The children also love to see their family posters displayed in the room!

  • The Honeybees Library Day is on Fridays. Your children will be able to check out a book from the library, and bring the book back to the Honeybee Room to read in the classroom.

  • We send naptime blankets home on Thursday or Friday, depending on which day is your child's last day here at school for the week. We ask that you wash their blankets at home and bring them back the following Monday or Tuesday, on your child's first day back the next week. We greatly appreciate your help in this matter!

  • Mr. Mike is our KECC School Nurse. His office is located right next to our classroom. You can call him at 213-6136 x.3604. Please remember that absolutely no medicine may be kept in our classroom or in children’s cubbies in the hallway. All medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter must be kept in the Nurse’s office. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
