About Mrs. Foster


Kim Foster has been teaching art since 1991 in the St. Louis area with Normandy School District, Ferguson-Florissant School District, and currently in Kirkwood Schools. She was awarded the 2006 Missouri High School Art Teacher of the Year Award from the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA). Mrs. Foster has been featured in a number of articles including the March 2006 St. Louis Post Dispatch’s “Spotlight on Education,” the “Area Top Fine Arts Teachers,” of the May 2007 issue of St. Louis Magazine, and also featured in People Profiles of the Missouri State Teacher Association’s School & Community Magazine Winter Issue 2008.

Mrs. Foster enjoys being outdoors, cooking, watersports, and gardening. She has two dogs, Eddie and Molly.  Mrs. Foster was born and raised in Northern Indiana and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from William Woods University in Fulton, MO and her Masters in Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is currently working on her National Board Certification and hopes to complete this by Summer 2012.

Mrs. Foster is an active member of MAEA and sits on the Board as the Moderator of MAEAArtbytes, the online listserv for the organization.  She is a juried member in watercolor with the Best of Missouri Hands.  Mrs. Foster's other professional memberships include member of Kirkwood National Education Association (KNEA) plus NEA, Friends of the St. Louis Art Museum,  associate member of St. Louis Watercolor Society, associate member of Missouri Watercolor Society, and associate member of National Watercolor Society.  She has her own business, Art By Kim Foster, and likes to show around the United States in the summertime.  Look for Mrs. Foster at the Greentree Festival and stop by her tent to say, "hi!"
