Physical Education Curriculum
Physical Education builds healthy bodies and establishes healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity in daily lives. The curriculum includes learner outcomes in the following areas:
Personal Fitness and Healthy Active Living
- muscle endurance
- muscle strength
- flexibility
- cardio-respiratory endurance
- body composition
Responsible Personal and Social Behavior
in Physical Activity
Injury Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation
- body and spatial awareness
Fundamental Movement Skills and Games
- locomotor/non-locomotor movement
- low organized games/activities with and without manipulatives
- lead-up/team sports games/activities
- lead-up/dual and individual games/activities
Rhythms and Dance
- folk dance
- scatter square dance and line dance
- rhythms and dance - lumni sticks, jump bands
- social dance/dancing through the decades
- creative dance
Outdoor Educational Activities
The K-5 Physical Education Curriculum is aligned to the Missouri Show Me Standards the Missouri Grade Level Expectations and the National Physical Education content standards.
