KYS MEETING Picnic by the Dougherty Ferry lot… followed by our meeting – September 29th Next Meeting: October 13th Club yearbook photo at 5:45 on bleachers, then meeting in SC-210   Mission Accomplished: · Green tree booth: We raised Just over $2500!  This will be going to some local charities… ideas? · Kid’s Day: Excellent day Saturday, cancelled due to rain on Sunday.  Volunteers were much appreciated. · Beepball tourn:  Rescheduled for this Sat, Oct 2.  If you signed up, please go.  They need you! · Honey Suckle Removal Sept 25th: Four dedicated students joined with about 20 others (many from Lafayette HS) to help eradicate this invasive species!   Upcoming Events: · NEW: Fri-Sun Oct 1-3  Taste of Saint Louis needs volunteers working in 3 – 3.5 hour shifts all weekend.  They will be helping direct people to compost vs trash their throw-aways.   You will need to register yourself: http://www.stlouisearthday.org?2010/09/taste-of-st-louis-volunteer-challenge · Friday

·   · Saturday October 2  @ 9 AND Friday October 15 @ 5:  Unloading Pumpkins for a charity pumpkin sale (We have 55 signed up for Saturday Oct 2.  Many of these could switch over to Taste of St. Louis instead – if you do, please cross your name off the one list and add it to the other). The unloading is located at the Webster Hills United Methodist Church (corner of Berry and Lockwood) · Saturday October 9   9-2:  Nurses for Newborns would like our help organizing donations at their center in Shrewsbury.  Meet at the Essex parking lot at 8:30 to carpool over. · Saturday October 9    8:30-12. Autism Walk (Instead of Simpson Park Lake clean up) You must register at http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=347295 · Saturday October 16   9-12.  The Arc foundation, serving teens/children with mental disabilities, needs 6 volunteers to help with a craft table at one of their events.  · Saturday October 16  5-9: Des Peres Fall Festival.  You will b e helping with arts and crafts, hay rides, setting up/ taking down decorations.  Please meet at 5 at Des Peres park. · Sat Oct 23 Honeysuckle removal at Laumeier sculpture park 9am-1pm.  Dress for bush-whacking!  Tools and lunch provided! · NEW: Sun Oct 31 Trick or treat for Unicef.  Have fun trick-or-treating and raise money for a good cause!  Plus, this is their 50th anniversary!  We will procure a good prize for the top fund raiser!   On-going: · NEW: Believing is Seeing Tutoring Program.  See separate hand-out and sign up today. · NEW: Shoe Drive: Collecting used shoes to be sold in Kenya to help to pay for wells for fresh drinking water. www.shoeman.org  We are looking for a few students interesting in organizing and leading this shoe drive. · NEW: Moun Pou Moun Haiti  www.mpmhaiti.org would like our club to “adopt” a high school student in Haiti this school year to help support him/her.  Cost $800 (Fundraiser ideas?) · NEW: Charity Water: Selling water and baked goods door to door during homeroom?
